Why is it important for our council to send people to the Spring  Conferences
    ?

The Spring Conferences will be the first step of many in the launch of the new  Girl Scout Leadership Experience.  New resources, including Transforming Leadership and the Change Your World journeys, will be showcased.  People will explore how to make the most of these resources so that the Leadership  Experience is girl-led, cooperative, and hands-on, as well as available in a variety of pathways.  They will learn how to use the learning facilitation resources to  share these new resources, processes, and pathways with council  volunteers.  By coming to the Spring Conferences, your council team will also  have opportunities to network with other council teams so that we can all support each other as we champion this transformation together.

Will my staff have everything they need to roll out the Girl Scout  Leadership Experience next fall?
Your team of change champions will have everything they need to begin the transformation.  They’ll also be prepared to fully participate in the additional  online learning events that will help support them in their work.  They’ll be primed  to use the learning modules that will be derived from the Spring  Conference experience and shared throughout Girl Scouting.  Finally, they’ll be  able to take  advantage of other learning opportunities – offered at Macy and elsewhere – and be part of the community of practice leading the transformation efforts.  While we’re starting with the Spring Conferences, the transition will be a multiyear process.  We hope to reach the Movement's goal of providing girls with a unified Girl Scout experience by the fall of 2010.

What are the most important messages you will be conveying at  the  Spring Conferences?
Leadership development is the core of the Movement and is woven into  everything a girl experiences in Girl Scouts.  All Discover, Connect, and Take Action activities are tied to short-, intermediate-, and long term outcomes.  By working toward these outcomes, adults can support girls in meaningful ways,  whether they’re using the new leadership journeys or diving into current activities recast in the new framework.

A staff member attended a Coming into Your Own session at
Macy  and was really excited about how this work could impact
    why is it important?

Threaded throughout the Spring Conferences is the message that adults matter, that as excellent as the resources are, the leadership the adults bring in support of the girls will heavily influence the experiences the girls have.  Participants will  have an opportunity to examine their own leadership journey, their motivations, and their interests, and to explore how they can best help build a girl’s courage, confidence, and character.
